Second Place: “There’s No Place Like Home”

Andrew Jenkins originally made this winning image for a friend who also happens to be a professional photographer.
“She asked me to create an image of Comerica Park, where the Detroit Tigers play, for her son who is a college baseball player,” he says. “So the next time I went to the ballpark, I took a camera and created this image.”
Jenkins originally shot the image in color. “When I changed to the black-and-white mode, I noticed it picked up all the details of the clouds. The black-and-white had much more impact,” Jenkins says. “As I was working on it, I realized what a cool image it was.”
The image was captured digitally and printed on KODAK PROFESSIONAL ULTRA ENDURA Paper.
Canfield Jenkins House of Photography is a custom design portrait studio located in St. Johns, Michigan, specializing in fine art, black-and-white and color photography. Jenkins has been creating fine portraiture for 15 years.
Jenkins, perhaps not coincidentally, is a baseball fan himself.
